136.365 - communication

                    I do not belong anywhere
I have an accent in every language I speak
                                        Sholey Wolpe

What a beautiful metaphor
and goddam how I relate!
not so long ago I was more fluent
in any computer language I knew
than in any human language I almost knew
I keep myself a stranger
no matter where I live or who I know how long
and do not learn the casual rule breaking
that marks spoken language
the idioms
that make so much of what folks say
sound like idiocy
no, you are not all tied up
you do not have gummy fingers
or two left feet
your friend’s mother has none of those things
you say to aggravate him
and you and I have a common language
only when you remember what you read in school
here
here are my keys and passcodes
access to my locked files
but what you find inside them will still sound
like a foreign language translated into English
word for word
