where all the cars collided
each one rushing independently
each one intent on some goal beyond here
each focused somewhere else
oblivious to the vehicles hurtling toward
this place at that time
each at its own speed
this is the scene of the crash
no scene at all now
except for the broken siderail
the scorched asphalt
the rebar poking out
here where they crashed
and some burned
and lives ended
or were changed forever
and now all we see is
a roadway needing repair
