and cats
the boy carried a pail
he looked in one house
then in another
and another
for clean water
but everywhere the pumps
gushed water with blood in it
somewhere behind him
someone needed help
water and a woman
but in the village
the boy found no one
not even a man
or other boy
not even a fire
or a clean cloth
the boy ran
from house to house
finding nothing
and more nothing
